Stephen Colbert Checks In With ‘The African American’ Delegate At The RNC

Donald Trump’s Republican Party has had some… trouble reaching out to black voters.

Case in point: ZERO percent of black respondents to a NBC News-Wall Street Journal-Marist in Ohio and Pennsylvania — and just 6 percent nation-wide — said they supported Trump’s bid for the presidency.

Or, just take a look at Donald Trump: He has tweeted out fake crime statistics from white supremacists, has a habit of calling black people “thugs,” and, decades ago, took out a full-page ad in the New York Times and three other New York City newspapers calling for the executions of five minors — the youngest was 13 at the time — falsely accused of rape and murder.]

Or consider Trump’s frequent use of terms like “Law and Order” and “America First” — the former arose in the ’60s in response to urban rioting, the latter was the name of a nativist campaign in the 1940s that urged politicians to appease Hitler.

Well, Stephen Colbert managed to get in touch with one black Republican delegate who didn’t seem to have a problem with any of that.

In its 920-page policy manual the word “abortion” appears nearly 200 times.
